Mack Boring in NJ is a major Yanmar parts supplier. You can google
them and check them out, too.

I see you’re from Newport. I have found Oldport Marine in Newport to be resonable in their pricing.

Hey Ron…This may go contrary to what many think…but yanmar parts from an authorized yanmar dealer are normally cheaper than on line. This is because only authorized dealers are given the best pricing by yanmar. My example…is Deaton Yachts in Oriental, NC…they have awesome stock in store and rock!!! Jerry Ingalls…Island Packet 26 MKII who also loves Freedoms…like the 25 etc. Discovered this while working at West Marine and often ordering on line. Hi Sward! J

You can no longer buy direct from Mack
Boring you have to go through their dealers and you know what that means.
I am using http://www.marinedieseldirect.com/
they are very helpful, prices are right and online service is good.

Thanks for the replies – yes I know the lads at
Oldport – I probably should. I assume that matching vee belts would be OK
however?
Has anyone had thermostat failure with these engines –
any unusual symptoms? I see they are on the recommended spares list.

Ron,

Where did you see a recommended spare parts list? I have a new 3YM30 and don’t have a book that lists the parts and numbers. I am planning on going to the Bahama’s in January and want to have spares of many things. I do know about impellers & filters. I would like to find a starter and alternator to take along-a used and/or refurbished one.

Thanks,

Ron,

In a pinch you can always remove the failed one, punch out the center diaphragm and put it back in. The engine will run cooler but it will run. More of my customers have had glycol hoses fail than thermostats. So extra glycol is a good ideal.
Also replace or have a spares of the glycol custom hoses used on Yanmars.
Regards,

Van

Yanmar sells a parts book. In my case I
bought one for my 3GM . It was very useful as it has exploded diagrams of
everything. I don’t know that anyone provides it free.
