Hi all, I am looking to possibly refit a 1985 Hoyt F32 this Spring. The previous owner removed the head a decade ago leaving only the holding tank.
Does anyone happen to have a plumbing schematic for an F32?
When I refit my last sailboat (a Catalina 30 MK2), it had a nonfunctional head, but I was able to use the parts on the old system to figure out all the parts I needed to buy, what lengths of hose, routing, etc making the job much simpler.
I’m sure I can figure it out and just buy a few extra feet of hose if need be, but figured I’d check here first.
Are there any recommendations on parts? I’ve always used manual Jabsco twist n lock heads with whatever cheap sanitation hose WM has. Open to trying something new if someone can recommend something they like better.
I found these plumbing diagrams from the F32 manual. They’re a bit hard to read, so I’m not sure how helpful they’ll be for what you’re trying to do. F32 plumbing diagrams.pdf (386.8 KB)
It’s probably somewhere on this forum, but let me know if you can’t find it and I will post what I have. I don’t own a F32, but I have a sort of generalized manual file that has information from a few different Freedoms. I got it from Paul Dennis years ago with some other Freedom documents that I was scanning.
I have a jabsco in my F-32 works great…The original one broke all the time…wasn’t a Jabsco but all the installation was the same. Bought rebuild kit on eBay for half the price as West Marine. Make sure you get the right type of hose.
I have read in many places about owners who have gone the composting toilet route. I personally have no experience but others seem very happy with them. Food for thought.
I replaced the head on my f32 last season. I went with the Jabsco twist and lock as the installation and operation is simple and parts readily available. The base plate below the floor has tapped holes that match the Jabsco. 2 holes in the bulkhead behind the bowl. One for water supply from the thru- hull behind the blkhd. I have an in line shut off valve just behind the bowl. Getting down in the locker to shut it off is an acrobatic feat. The other is waste running through and up against the back of the blkhd close to the top through a vented loop, down to a y-valve mounted against the blkhd. From the y- valve one hose goes to the holding tank and the other to the thru-hull bellow. The tank has the vented hose to the sheer and the waste removal hose to the deck.
We replaced our marine head with a c-head compostable a few years ago and couldn’t be happier. '84 F32. The holding tank is so tiny that we couldn’t get more than a few days on the hook with family of 3.
