Great idea, I’m local to Gloucester and a member at EPYC. We no longer have our Freedoms. Segue F36/38 is still in Gloucester at EPYC with new owner Tom P. Take Five Pedrick F35 #1 is somewhere on the south coast and Scoter, our ‘83 F21 is somewhere on the Penobscot the last I heard. I’m happy to help with any land side support or planning if this develops further. Best Regards JP, now boatless, not even a dinghy.
Freedom Fest 2026 is catching on. So far we have 4 interested in meeting up. JP has offered local knowledge and has offered assistance and advice. Hopefully we can get a few more boats to join the fun.
Thinking that after the New Year maybe we can have a Zoom call and work out details.
Never attended one of these events so definitely open to ideas. Possible activities include boat tours, happy hour byob onboard or dinner or a social ashore. Walk around Rocky Neck or Rogers St. Generally the idea is for a casual approach.
Believe everyone is fairly local and familiar with Gloucester. If anyone has questions please feel free to reach out. But it is a very open entrance so navigation is easy.
Planning on taking a mooring at inner harbor with Gloucester Harbormaster. There is a launch, showers and any facilities you could need. Everything is well described on Dockwa. They will be taking reservations again in April.
Hi -
Yes. I realize it’s quite a haul and a bit early in the season for a Maine cruise. I think i would just make Gloucester my final stop and then head home. I’ve been east plenty of times and even thru the canal to Ptown but not farther north.
I know J Baisillote and he’s actually even further away in Staten Island. If all works out I would travel with him. He actually bought by headsail when I converted to a furler to make my singlehanded sailing even easier.
The FreedomFest 26 is getting some momentum. Looks we have 8 boats expressing interest so far. Of course, all kinds of obstacles like life, logistics, weather all are conspiring to keep us on our moorings. But we are going to be ready to go.
Rockport is another place to consider, Sandy Bay has plenty of space to anchor and can dinghy to old harbor, there are nice restaurants beautiful friendly community very picturesque. We are in the Merrimack River with our Freedom F40/40 Aeolus
