Bow sprint is awesome! And I bet Bill Robinson had a very interesting life…… thanks.

Will start the glass layup in a few days.

Back to getting the tombstone "bow sprit " ready. Laying up fiberglass mat for now. Fairing compound to follow.
Progress
1st coat of bottom paint.
1st coat epoxy paint for bow sprit.
Dry fit. Some modifications needed.
Looks like I also need a new phone.
Have the lower gudgeon in Anchorage. New brass bearing and clean up of the actual gudgeon being done. Nothing easy or cheap in Alaska. 12 hour drive and $1200 bill staring me in the face.
New shaft seal.
Hmm guess I should paint back there before putting the motor in…
Sailing 61 north - the bowsprit is awesome!
I will get a more “final” photo once it’s cleaned up and installed. Refocusing on pre engine installation.
Motor template V6. AKA “USS Enterprise”
My back mounts sit higher than the front and it’s tight against the hull. Now to load up the mockup, drive 30 miles and see if I am getting close.
A few on-site mods but it’s there. Will do another mockup taking into account the close proximity of the stock motor mounts.
New problem.
Shaft is at 13.1 degrees
Motor is at 17.8 degrees.
Will try lowering the front to see what I get.
Well. Had to take a more drastic route. Removed a section where the front mounts go. Will get some 1/2 plate steel to go beneath and support with some angle iron/aluminum. Will drop the overall front 1.5 inches and allow me to match angles with the motor and shaft.
Beginning of my game plan. Needed to lower the height by 2 inches.
3x3 angle aluminum bolted to the old housing.
3/8 plate aluminum on top of the angle.
New motor mounts on that.
Black border around data field. Once that dries I will touch up with red then clear coat.
More bow sprit…
Bottom gudgeon. Have to do a little more fairing to make the fit
