The house water pump on my F30 is original, fussy and noisy. Has anyone replaced theirs? Does anyone know what the original model is? Looking for potential replacement. I’ve been quoted a pretty pricy replacement and am looking to see what others may have used.
MarcH… replacing a fresh water pump supplying water to boat faucets, showers, etc, should not be expensive normally and should be a diy project. Look for a 12v pump with 4+ gpm flow - see Amazon. Sometimes the problem is accumulated sand and hard water deposits in the water tank restricting flow to the pump - check the pump’s filter and clean/clear. Check your water tank if you can ( I can’t easily do that on mine). A new pump may not exactly fit the footprint of the original, in which case anew base may need to be made…. Connections should be strait forward with water intake and out to system.
Thank you. This is along the lines of what I was thinking of of doing. I only had someone else quote the job because the prior owner was having some plumbing done pre-sale and wanted to see if the jobs could be ganged together. I was shocked at the cost of the part they implied I needed when I’ve seen them for much less. They seem to have located some kind of premium pump.
The updated reply from the installer who proposed the job was that the cheaper unit had a longer dimension and would require rearranging the rest of the space (under the nav table and shared with the batteries) so they quoted a pump with the same footprint which was substantially more expensive. I don’t have model numbers to reference, but regardless, I’ll get down to the boat this weekend and assess what the possibilities are.
I moved my pump to under the galley sink - behind the drawer. It’s worked fine there for years and there’s more room to play with. Bonus: I could add a third battery under the nav desk.

That is an excellent suggestion. Do you have a model you used? Or pics of the install?
This Shurflo model is what replaced the original Par in my Mull F28. From the repair records, the cost was $110 plus labor.
Thank you!
Hi Mark,
Sorry for the delay. Here are some pics of my water pump under the counter beside the galley sink. The tee in the hose is to a manual pump.

Thank you!
This is really a brilliant location for the pump. I’ll have to find a new place for my cooking pots tho.
I have exactly the same issue on my 30. The pump is jammed in there between tank and battery with zero room to get at the pump for inspection/maintenance. Getting it moved to the sink area would be fantastic. Not only that but it is not a particularly complicated mod.
I can still fit a nesting set of pots and some cleaning supplies under the sink.
Yea, I think I would have enough room too, just need to re-organize for the ten millionth time.
You mentioned a manual pump stubbed off the tank to pump feed. Could you tell us a bit more about what you did with the manual pump, where you located it and what it looks like?
It’s a little Whale Flipper hand pump just outboard of the main sink faucet. I have discovered that I need to keep the lever in the fully down position or air gets into the line and triggers the electric pump.
Another suggestion - I’ve got a pump like Tricia’s on a platform at the top of the bilge just under the floorboards. Everything is much easier to access than either the original position under the chart table or under the sink.
Boat is 197 miles away up in Blaine now, so no pictures.
Had to do this a few years ago. I don’t know what prices are like in the US, but here I made a substantial saving by buying from a caravan/RV supplier, rather than a marine chandlery. The pumps appeared identical, though with different names. The cheap replacement has lasted more than ten years, and still runs perfectly.
The headline caught my eye; I couldn’t think why I should replace MY pump.
I’m finally getting around to this. I limped the old pump along, but I’m ready to see it go. As I look into replacing the old pump, and do the under-sink relocation, I’ve been looking at system diagrams. They are all calling for accumulators and expansion tanks. My current setup doesn’t have either. Does anyone whos’ done this before have any thoughts?
Don’t know whether this will help you - I have the f35 p and originally had only the fresh water pump. A friend had a similar boat and his had the accumulator tank too - I was having fresh water pump issues with poor water pressure, so I added one. Didn’t make a difference and left it in for 2 hears, recently took it out - cleaned my fresh water tank and used a new fresh water pump only and works nicely…… I didn’t notice a difference using the accumulator tank…. Pic shows batteries, fresh water pump, battery monitor shunt. Open space is where I placed the accumulator tank- now removed….
The accumulator tank will even out the water flow. Before I installed one, I had significant temperature fluctuations when taking a hot shower. Once I installed it, it became much more even. Why? I’m not entirely sure, but that’s what happened.

Ah - that could explain it then Since taking out the accumulator tank, I take showers with one hand one the shower knob due to too hot or too cold. It is weird… so I looked on-line and actually read the fine print ( starting too more and more now ) and saw that in fact one purpose is to help stabilize hot and cold water- so I ordered another one - the one I removed had a small leak which persisted. So try again- all good.
