Freedom 32 Mull - Lewmar Hatches

Does anyone know the precise Lewmar model of hatches fitted to a 1992 Freedom 32 (Mull)? Are they Rollstop or Ocean? Likewise does anyone know the precise model and/or sizing of each of the hatches fitted - ie main saloon; forward cabin and heads compartment?

Per my recollection, if you look carefully at the frame, you will find a sticker which has the model number on it. when they started doing that, or if it’s still readable, is an unknown.

Here is a recent post on replacing hatch lenses that might be of interest.

I can’t speak to the hatches on the Mull Freedom 32, but my 1992 Freedom 38 was built at the same time. I believe the original hatches on my boat were Bomar, and the previous owners replaced them with Lewmar low profile hatches in 2015 (shortly before I bought the boat). I have since replaced the forward hatch with a Lewmar Ocean Series because it’s a bit beefier and I sometimes take waves over the bow. I left the two hatches on the cabin top as low profile, as they seem less prone to snag lines.

Assuming the forward hatch on your boat is a trapezoid, then it is Lewmar size 65. On my boat the square main hatch is a size 60. See attached PDF for additional details.

My thanks to those who have responded to my enquiry regarding Lewmar hatches - greatly appreciated.

The Lewmar brochure has been useful.

Having said that I have reason to believe that my Freedom 32 (Mull) is actually fitted with Lewmar Rollstop units - these are similar in profile to the Ocean series but have the “click stop” hinge mechanism. Unfortunately there are no ’stickers’ or frame markings to confirm, or otherwise, the precise model.

Regards to All
